On 28 January 2026 Google took legal action against IPIDEA and disrupted the network, removing up to nine million compromised devices and seizing dozens of domains. Google described it as one of the world's largest residential proxy networks and reported observing more than 550 distinct threat groups using its exit nodes during a single week in January.
