LumiProxy Online Proxy Review
LumiProxy's free online proxy does more than its borrowed page names suggest: every page loaded, YouTube played, there were no ads, and the six locations we spot-checked from its list of 199 all exited where promised. It was slow, though, and every exit we saw was a hosting network, not the residential IPs LumiProxy sells.
The short version
- A free tool from LumiProxy, a residential proxy seller, published on pages titled after CroxyProxy and ProxySite.
- All 10 proxied pages loaded and YouTube played, but the median load was 6,888 ms, among the slower proxies we timed.
- The location menu lists 199 countries; the 6 we picked all exited in the right country, every one from a hosting or cloud network.
- No ads added to proxied pages, no signup, and no published limits or logging policy for the free tool.

What we measured
Results from the scripted browsing session every proxy in this series goes through. Measured from a single connection in the EU, using test method wpb-1.1. Every proxy ran the same scripted session.

What the LumiProxy online proxy is
LumiProxy is a proxy company that sells rotating residential proxies. Its free web proxy sits on pages named after other services: the one we tested is titled "CroxyProxy Free Web Proxy" and lives at lumiproxy.com/online-proxy/croxyproxy, with a sibling page for ProxySite. Both are linked from LumiProxy's own navigation. The tool itself runs on LumiProxy's servers (proxylink.lumiproxy.com); it is not CroxyProxy or ProxySite.
That naming is a marketing choice, and it is worth knowing about if you searched for CroxyProxy and landed here. According to Semrush estimates, searches for "croxyproxy" bring LumiProxy about half of its organic traffic. The page is also a sales page: below the proxy form sit residential proxy pricing, a "Get started for free" button and a cookie banner.
Using it is simple. Type an address, choose a proxy location from the dropdown (United States by default) and press GO. The site opens inside a LumiProxy browse page.
How it performed in our test
LumiProxy's session covered the standard five targets twice each, plus the JavaScript app, six location picks and an exit IP lookup.
Every one of the 10 page loads passed its content check. Speed was the weak point: the median was 6,888 ms, and even simple pages took several seconds, with YouTube and the GitHub sign-in page the slowest. Only a few proxies in this series were slower.
YouTube worked properly. Playback started in both runs, something only four proxies in the field did. The JavaScript test app (TodoMVC) worked in one of its two runs and timed out in the other, so it passes our check but not with full consistency.
Browsing was ad-free: nothing was added to the proxied pages, and not one request went to a listed ad network. The landing page made one request to a Google ad host (ad.doubleclick.net) but showed no ad slots.
Locations: a long list that checks out, on hosting IPs
The location dropdown lists 199 countries, the longest list of any free web proxy we track. We could not test them all, so we picked six spread across the world: Germany, Japan, Brazil, India, South Africa and Canada. All six exited in the chosen country.
The networks behind those exits tell a different story from LumiProxy's product pages. They belonged to hosting and cloud companies, including Tencent in Japan, Ultahost in India and Datacamp in Canada, and ip-info.com classed every one as corporate rather than residential. Our default United States exit was on Cloudie Limited, another hosting network. So while LumiProxy sells residential proxies, its free tool, in our test, did not use them.
For checking how a site looks in a given country, a verified long list is genuinely useful. Just expect sites that distrust datacenter addresses to treat these visits accordingly.
Is LumiProxy's online proxy safe?
LumiProxy is a named company, the page runs over HTTPS, and we saw no ads or pop-ups injected into the sites we opened. Those are good signs.
We found no logging policy specific to the free tool, and LumiProxy does not publish its free limits. Its business is selling proxies, so the free tool is a route into that. As with any web proxy, the operator's servers see the pages you open, so avoid signing in to sensitive accounts through it.
Who it suits
LumiProxy's online proxy suits people who want a wide choice of countries and do not mind waiting a few seconds per page or exiting from a datacenter. If you need a residential IP on the free tool, so that sites see an ordinary home visitor, Shifter Web Proxy offers 54 countries through residential IPs, with no ads and a published free allowance of 30 minutes and 100 MB a day. LumiProxy lists far more countries than we do.
Pros and cons
- 199 listed countries, and all 6 we spot-checked exited correctly
- Every test page loaded
- YouTube played, which most free proxies failed
- No ads or pop-ups while browsing
- Run by a named company, over HTTPS, with no signup
- Slow: several seconds even for simple pages
- Every exit we saw was a hosting or cloud IP, not residential
- Presented under other proxies' names (CroxyProxy, ProxySite)
- No published free limits or logging policy for the tool
- The JavaScript test app worked in only one of two runs

- You were looking for CroxyProxy or ProxySite themselves.
How we scored it
Measured from a single connection in the EU, using test method wpb-1.1. Every proxy ran the same scripted session. Countries are scored on a log scale, because a jump from 3 to 20 countries matters far more to a visitor than one from 100 to 200, and only countries with residential exits count: every exit we observed is classified by its network, consumer ISP or hosting provider. Ads are scored on three parts: ads on the landing page (25%), ad slots added to proxied pages, filled or empty (45%) and ad-network code loaded while you browse, seen or not (30%). Any ad-network request caps that part at 6 out of 10.
Every criterion is calculated from published facts or our own measurements and normalised across all the free web proxies we track, Shifter included. Nothing is scored by hand, so a proxy that beats ours on a criterion scores higher on it.
- Speed measuredWeight 22% 2/10
6888 ms median page load against 16 proxies we timed, multiplied by the 100% of test pages that loaded.
- Countries measuredWeight 17% 0/10
Every exit we observed was on a hosting or cloud provider's network, so none count as residential. Log scale against the widest residential choice in the field (54).
- Ads measuredWeight 22% 10/10
Landing page ads: no. Ad slots added to proxied pages, filled or empty: 0. Ad-network requests per proxied page: 0.
- Compatibility measuredWeight 22% 10/10
Passed 2 of 2 checks (YouTube playback, staying logged in, a JavaScript app).
- PrivacyWeight 17% 5/10
Operator named: yes. Logging: no policy published. HTTPS to the proxy: yes.
