KProxy is an established name among free web proxies. According to TechRadar's review, it offers extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Kiwi, plus a portable Windows browser, which is convenient if you want a proxy one click away.
The same review describes the limits of the free tier: two countries (Canada and France), periodic disconnects followed by a wait before you can reconnect, and a privacy policy that lists a large number of logged details. Germany, the United Kingdom and two US regions, along with uninterrupted use, are part of KProxy Pro, which TechRadar lists at $5 for 10 days or $10 a month. When we tried to load kproxy.com, the secure connection failed and www.kproxy.com timed out, so we could neither check these points ourselves nor include KProxy in our measured tests.
Shifter Web Proxy works the other way round. Every country in its list of 54 is open on the free tool, every session exits through a residential IP, and the limit is published in advance: 30 minutes and 100 MB per visitor per day.

Why people switch from KProxy
All countries on the free tool
According to TechRadar, KProxy's free tier covers Canada and France, with more countries reserved for Pro. Shifter Web Proxy opens all 54 countries to every free visitor, the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States included.
A known allowance instead of interruptions
TechRadar reports that KProxy's free tier disconnects periodically and makes you wait. Shifter's free limit is stated up front, 30 minutes and 100 MB a day, so you can plan a session around it.
No log of the pages you visit
TechRadar notes that KProxy's policy lists a huge number of details that are logged. Shifter Web Proxy does not log the pages you visit, and only keeps an anonymous, hashed counter to enforce the daily allowance.
Nothing to install
KProxy leans on extensions and a portable browser, per TechRadar. Shifter Web Proxy runs entirely in a browser tab: pick a country, pass a reCAPTCHA and the site opens with back, forward and reload.
Residential exit IPs
KProxy does not say what kind of IPs it uses, as far as we could find. Every Shifter session exits through a residential IP, which large sites generally treat as an ordinary home visitor in that country.
No subscription to unlock the basics
TechRadar lists KProxy Pro at $5 for 10 days, $10 a month or $30 for six months. Shifter's free web proxy has no paid version: plans exist for the full residential and ISP network, not to unlock countries or remove breaks.
KProxy pros and cons
- A recognizable name with both a web form and extensions
- Extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Kiwi, plus a portable Windows browser (TechRadar)
- An inexpensive Pro tier for heavier use, from $5 for 10 days (TechRadar)
- Free tier limited to Canada and France (TechRadar)
- Free sessions disconnect periodically and force a wait (TechRadar)
- Privacy policy lists many logged details (TechRadar)
- The website's secure connection failed when we checked
Verdict
KProxy suits people who want a proxy extension and are happy to pay for Pro once the free tier's two countries and breaks get in the way. If you want more countries without a subscription, residential exit IPs and no page log, Shifter Web Proxy gives you 54 countries in a browser tab, within a clear daily allowance.
