UnblockVideos Review
UnblockVideos did not work in our test. Its landing page loaded cleanly with no ads, but the proxy server behind it refused the connection on every page we tried, YouTube included, so we could not open a single site through it.
The short version
- The proxy failed outright: proxy.unblockvideos.com refused all 10 of our page loads, plus the JavaScript app and exit IP checks.
- The landing page itself loaded, with no ads, and says the service is free "with no limitations".
- A video-focused proxy whose operator, server countries and logging policy are not published.
- With nothing measured past the form, its score rests mostly on published facts and the failed loads.

What we measured
Results from the scripted browsing session every proxy in this series goes through. Measured from a single connection in the EU, using test method wpb-1.1. Every proxy ran the same scripted session.

| Pages that loaded | 0% |
| YouTube playback | Failed |
| JavaScript app | Failed |

What UnblockVideos is
UnblockVideos pitches itself at video. YouTube is the focus, DailyMotion gets a mention, and the site claims to strip ads from Vevo videos. Next to the proxy it offers YouTube tools such as a video restriction checker, and the form itself sits on a page titled "PHP Web Proxy Demo", a hint that the script is offered to other site owners too.
The page describes the proxy as fast, secure, reliable and "completely free to use with no limitations", and says it has servers in several countries, without listing them. The footer reads "Online since 2013". We found no operator name and no logging policy.
What happened in our test
We pointed our usual session at UnblockVideos: ten page loads across five targets, the JavaScript app and an exit IP lookup.
The landing page at unblockvideos.com loaded normally, over HTTPS, with no ad slots or pop-ups and zero calls to listed ad networks. The problem came after pressing Unblock. Every request went to proxy.unblockvideos.com, and every time Chrome showed "This site can't be reached: proxy.unblockvideos.com refused to connect". That happened on all 10 page loads, both JavaScript app runs and the exit IP check. Not one site opened.
So we have no load time, no YouTube result beyond the failure, no view of in-session ads and no exit IP. It may have been a temporary fault on the proxy server, and it may work again later, but on the day we tested, a proxy for video could not show a video.
Is UnblockVideos safe?
We cannot say much either way, because we never got a page through it. What we can say is that the site does not name its operator or publish a logging policy, so if it works for you, you are routing your browsing through servers run by someone you cannot identify. Avoid signing in to anything through it.
The landing page itself was clean in our test: HTTPS, no ads and no pop-ups.
Who it suits
If UnblockVideos is back up when you try it, it may suit a quick video view. On our evidence we cannot recommend it for anything yet. If you need to open ordinary websites from another country, Shifter Web Proxy covers 54 countries on residential IPs, ad-free. Be aware that its free allowance is 30 minutes and 100 MB a day, and video uses data quickly, so it is not built for long viewing either.
Pros and cons
- Clean landing page: HTTPS, no ads, no pop-ups
- No signup
- Extra YouTube tools on the site
- The proxy server refused every page load in our test
- No server countries published
- Operator and logging policy not disclosed
- Built for video only
Who UnblockVideos is for
- You only want to try a quick video view and are happy to retry if it fails.
- You need a proxy that reliably opens pages today.
- You need a specific country.
- You want to know who runs the proxy and what it keeps.
How we scored it
Measured from a single connection in the EU, using test method wpb-1.1. Every proxy ran the same scripted session. Countries are scored on a log scale, because a jump from 3 to 20 countries matters far more to a visitor than one from 100 to 200, and only countries with residential exits count: every exit we observed is classified by its network, consumer ISP or hosting provider. Ads are scored on three parts: ads on the landing page (25%), ad slots added to proxied pages, filled or empty (45%) and ad-network code loaded while you browse, seen or not (30%). Any ad-network request caps that part at 6 out of 10.
Every criterion is calculated from published facts or our own measurements and normalised across all the free web proxies we track, Shifter included. Nothing is scored by hand, so a proxy that beats ours on a criterion scores higher on it.
